Pre-Arranged Absences: Important Information for Families

If your student will be missing three or more days of school, please complete and submit a Pre-Arranged Absence Form in advance.

The form must be signed by a parent or guardian and then submitted to the principal for approval. Once the principal has signed the form, the student will need to take it to their teachers to obtain the required signatures. Please allow two school days for the approval and signature process.

You or your student can obtain the form in one of two ways:
Pick up a paper copy from our front office.
Access the fillable form on the Churchill High School website by following these steps:
  1. Click on Students & Parents at the top of the homepage.

Cultural Exchange Opportunity: Connect with Students in Kyoto!

Ritsumeikan Primary School in Kyoto, Japan, will host their 5th annual online cultural exchange event for students studying Japanese outside Japan.

The program features a variety of presentations created by Ritsumeikan's fifth-grade students, including traditional Japanese dance, koto (Japanese zither) performances, and introductions to Kyoto’s traditional industries. Participating students will simply observe the presentation, or have the opportunity to share their thoughts and impressions, exchange ideas, and ask questions in small-group discussions via Zoom. This will allow them to communicate in both English and Japanese, learn from one another and deepen their understanding of each other’s cultures in a casual setting. This is a fun opportunity for students from 4th grade to 12th grade studying Japanese.

Dates: October 27 and 28
Time: 4:50–6:00 p.m. PDT
Registration: Free! Register here

The Zoom link will be sent to registered participants by the day before the exchange.
If you have any questions, please contact Kumiko Hakushi-sensei at khakushi@gusd.net.
