Dear Churchill Parents and Families,
I am writing to you today with a heavy heart as our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to the parents, families, and community members affected by the tragic events in Bend. Incidents like these affect us all deeply, and they serve as a solemn reminder of how precious our school community is.
At our school, the safety and well-being of your children is our highest priority. We take safety extremely seriously, which is why we implemented locked perimeter doors throughout our building this year. This physical measure ensures that our learning environment remains secure, but school safety is ultimately a shared responsibility that involves all of us.
In light of recent events, we ask for your partnership in the following ways:
- Engage Your Children in Open Conversations: Events like this can bring up a complex mix of emotions for students, ranging from worry and anxiety to sadness or confusion. We encourage you to take time this week to check in with your children, listen to their feelings, and offer reassurance.
- Remind Students Not to Prop Open Doors: Please emphasize to your student that exterior doors must never be propped open for any reason, no matter how brief or convenient it may seem.
- Remind Students Not to Open Doors for Others: Students should not open exterior doors to let anyone inside—whether it is a classmate, a parent, or a visitor. All visitors and students entering after the school day starts must enter directly through the front office or be greeted and admitted by a staff member at a monitored entrance.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for having these important conversations at home. By working together, we can maintain a warm, welcoming, and secure environment for all of our students and staff.
Sincerely,
Kevin Rodemack, Principal |

If your student will be missing three or more days of school, please complete and submit a Pre-Arranged Absence Form in advance.
The form must be signed by a parent or guardian and then submitted to the principal for approval. Once the principal has signed the form, the student will need to take it to their teachers to obtain the required signatures. Please allow two school days for the approval and signature process.
You or your student can obtain the form in one of two ways: Pick up a paper copy from our front office. Access the fillable form on the Churchill High School website by following these steps: - Click on Students & Parents at the top of the homepage.
- Select Forms.
- Navigate to the Pre-Arranged Absence Form.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please don't hesitate to call the Attendance Office at 541-790-5103.
Thank you for helping us ensure that planned absences are communicated and approved in a timely manner! |
