Dear Churchill Families,
It has been wonderful to see the sun making a more permanent appearance this week! While the warmer weather is a breath of fresh air, it also brings that familiar "spring fever." I’m writing today to ask for your partnership in keeping our students engaged and on track as we head into the final stretch of the school year.
Attendance Matters (Be Present Stay Present)
We’ve noticed a slight dip in daily attendance recently. It’s tempting to treat these sunny afternoons like an early summer vacation, but every instructional minute still counts.
-
The "Partial" Absence: We are seeing an increase in students who arrive at school on time but choose to skip specific periods throughout the day.
-
Stay Informed: Please regularly check your student’s attendance in ParentVUE. Because our office does not typically place individual calls for tardies, the portal is your best tool to ensure your student is in every class they are scheduled for.
-
Our Commitment: Our staff is doing everything we can to sweep hallways and encourage students to get to class. We truly appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations at home.
Senior Families: The Countdown is On
With graduation quickly approaching, we want to ensure every single one of our seniors has the opportunity to walk across that stage.
While our counselors and administration work tirelessly to monitor credits and requirements, we are managing a large graduating class. If you have any concerns about your student’s graduation status, please do not wait for us to call you. Reaching out to your student's counselor/teachers now ensures we can work together to clear any hurdles before it’s too late.
Next Week’s "Wonky" Schedule
Please take note of the schedule changes for next week to ensure your student is where they need to be:
-
Thursday is a Half-Day: Most students will be involved in testing or pre-planned school activities. For Juniors and Seniors not involved in testing on Thursday, we are providing a variety of productive options. We will have several academic support rooms open for students to catch up on assignments, as well as designated areas for arts and enrichment activities.
- No School Friday
As always, my door is open. If you have questions, concerns, or just want to share a success story about your student, please feel free to reach out.
Go Lancers!

Dear Families,
We are preparing for an upcoming district testing day and want to ensure all students and families are informed and ready. This is an important opportunity for our students to demonstrate their learning and for us to support their next steps.
April 9th Schedule
There will be no bells on this day. Students need to be in their Advisory class at 8:30 AM for initial attendance and directions. Please be aware that some students cannot repeat exams or be allowed in testing rooms after we begin. Leadership encourages families to have teens here even by 8:15 am - thank you. From there, students will transition to their assigned testing or activity locations. The day will conclude at 12:30 PM, and lunch will be provided.
Please note that buses will run on their normal schedules. If possible, we encourage students to use public transportation or arrange alternate rides.
9th Grade
All 9th-grade students will participate in district-provided Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons with a College & Career Focus. Our team has a clear plan in place, and students will report to assigned rooms in K Hall and F Hall.
10th Grade
All 10th-grade students will take the PreACT. Testing will take place in the IHS Hall, H Hall, and J-Hall. There are no Pre-ACT makeups.
11th Grade
11th-grade students will take the SAT. Testing will be held in the STEM Building and C Wing. Students who are not testing will join 12th-grade advisory options for the day. College Board asks that teens be ready and in their seats on time for SAT.
12th Grade
Seniors will get targeted academic support. Staff will be available to assist with core coursework, higher ed, resumes, and college or career planning. We have planned for core interventions and flex time.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring students arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage. If you have questions, please connect with your student’s school team.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and school community.
