As we head into the final week before break, I want to remind our students and families that, even though excitement is high, we are not on break just yet. This is an important time to stay focused, finish strong, and save the slowing down for when the break actually begins.
The semester is also coming to a close, which means we are entering the crucial “crunch time” for grades. Please take a moment to check your student’s progress in their classes. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to teachers. Open communication can make a significant difference as we wrap things up.
I would like to introduce Darin Lomsdalen and Guy Okilli da Graca. Guy and Darin are part of 4J’s Regional School Safety Team. As campus monitors, Darin and Guy work closely with staff, students, and families to help ensure a welcoming, secure, and supportive environment across all Churchill-area campuses.
Their daily work includes greeting students, maintaining positive visibility throughout school grounds, responding to safety needs, and helping uphold an inclusive atmosphere where every student feels seen and supported. Please don’t hesitate to stop and introduce yourself to Guy and Darin when you see them in our community!
With all of that said, we truly hope everyone has a wonderful upcoming break. May it be a time for rest, joy, and doing whatever puts you in your happy place.
As always, if you have any questions or need support, please let us know. We are here to help.

Juniors & Seniors - join us for our first annual CHS alumni panel. This is a chance to hear from recent graduates about their journey navigating life after high school. The panel will be held on Thursday, December 18, during Advisory.
Seniors
* Our offices will be closed until January 6. Take advantage of next week to talk to your counselor, ask questions, gather resources, and request transcripts. OSAC GPAs will be verified by CHS, so you won't need to upload a transcript. For college applications, you can request transcripts through Xello or with your Counselor.
* Planning on obtaining Honors Diploma recognition? The hour logs are due at the end of January. See your School Counselor if you have any questions. Logs are due to Kari Ludington, School Counselor, by January 30, 2026.
* FAFSA and OSAC called, and they are waiting for your applications! Who doesn't like the chance for FREE money?! Winter break may be just the time you've needed to get those applications completed. Even if you are thinking of taking a gap year, joining the military, or going straight to full-time work, fill out your FAFSA and OSAC. If you don't go to college right after high school, then you don't need to use the money. But if at the last second you decide, "Hey! I think I actually might like to go to LCC/PSU (or wherever)," you won't have missed your chance for that $$$.

Winter Break is a great time to work on scholarship essays!

Our community is rich with resources and skilled, compassionate providers. Our hope is that this guide will be a support to families as they navigate systems and access services. At this time, Relief Nursery is not able to translate the entire Resource Guide into Spanish, though we recognize the need and hope to pursue that project in the future. The Resource Guide includes some Spanish language translation, particularly in the areas that specifically focus on serving Hispanic and Latino clients, English as a Second Language classes, and Immigration and Migrant services.
