Some Language Arts classes will be attending these events. Students who want to attend individually need to preregister in advance in the library with Debbie or Jennifer and get permission from their 2nd-period teacher.

Megan Lally is a bestselling author of young adult thrillers. Megan is the author of That's Not My Name and No Place Left to Hide. She will talk about her experience as a writer and getting published, offer a brief and low-key writing activity, and participate in a Q&A. Megan lives in Salem, and she's very enthusiastic about working with our students. Let me know if you'd like a flier to put in your classroom to encourage students to register and attend.
Friday, April 25th
Emily Halnon lives in Eugene and wrote the memoir, To the Gorge: Running, Grief, and Resilience & 460 Miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. Home Safety Opportunity: Restricting Lethal Means
|
Pick up a FREE lockbox for your handgun, rifle, and/or medication at the Churchill front office or talk to your student's counselor.
Suicide is a leading cause of death among young people in Oregon and has recently increased in Lane County. The district is working with public health and other partners to provide families with information and resources for suicide prevention.
There are steps you can take to help keep your family members safe if they experience an emotional crisis or think about suicide. One important measure is to reduce easy access to things that could be dangerous to them: “lethal means.” Lethal means include firearms, prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, sharp objects, belts, cords, and cables.
Reducing access to lethal means saves lives. Most people who live through a suicide attempt do not later die by suicide. Suicide attempts using firearms are very likely to be fatal.
Firearms, medications, and other lethal means can be restricted by removing them or locking them in secure storage. It is essential that youths cannot know the combination or be able to get the key. Lockboxes are being offered to 4J families at no charge.

|
Dear Churchill Community,
We are considering permanently naming the Churchill gym court in honor of the late boys' basketball coach, John Roche, to recognize his contributions to our athletic program and community. Coach Roche dedicated a lifetime to shaping the lives of students at Churchill, both on and off the court. Coach Roche's accomplishments include:
- 299-88 record with the Lancers from 1988-2002 & 2005
- 5 Midwestern League Titles
- 11 trips to the State Tournament
- 10 State Trophies
- 2 State Championships (1995 & 2001)
- 3X Oregon Coach of the Year
- Member of Churchill and South Eugene Athletic Hall of Fame
Your input is important to us! Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts.
This survey is open to all members of the Churchill community, past and present. Feel free to share this link with anyone interested in providing feedback.
