Back-to-School 2024

Welcome back, Lancers!

READ THIS PAGE CAREFULLY.

We've made some changes to our back-to-school events for this year. Here are some of the things that are different.

  • We are not holding Back-to-School Days. Instead, please visit the school office during office hours, or come to the Ice Cream Social on August 22, 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
  • School pictures will not be taken before school starts. Picture day is Wednesday, September 11, during the school day. 
  • Some paper forms will be mailed home to the student's primary address. 

Review all of the sections below and complete the tasks that apply to you.

You must complete enrollment before you can complete any back-to-school tasks. Re-enrollment is not required if you are coming from a 4J school.

Back-to-School Events

Back-to-School Ice Cream Social
August 22, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
Join us for sweet treats. Staff members will be there to answer questions and help you complete back-to-school tasks.

First Day of School for 9th Graders
Wednesday, September 4, 8:30 am – 2:30 pm

First Day of Classes for All Grades
Thursday, September 5, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

📸 School photos will be taken during the school day on Wednesday, September 11.

 

 

 

  • Student profiles mailed.

    A student profile has been mailed to each student’s primary residence. Please review the information on the profile. Make corrections in red ink and return the corrected profile to the front office. Parents can also request a printout of the student profile at the front office. 

    Corrections must be made in red ink. Corrections will not be accepted through email or over the phone. 

    Student profiles include:

    • Student information: name, date of birth, etc.
    • Parent/guardian names and contact information
    • Emergency contact names and contact information
    • Student medical history

    2024-25 4J Annual Permissions and Opt Out Forms are here!

    Parents/guardians must complete these forms each school year to renew permissions or opt-outs. You can download the forms from the 4J website at the links below, or come to the Churchill Front Office for a paper copy. 

     

    2024-25 4J Annual Permissions Form
    For high-school students, parents only complete the Walking Field Trip portion. 

     

    2024-25 4J Annual Notice of Legal Rights and Opt Out Forms

    Includes: 

    • Objection to Release of Directory Information (includes options for school directory, yearbook, and publicity)
    • Notice of Human Sexuality Instruction (Complete only if you wish to excuse student from human sexuality instruction)
    • Disclosure of Information to Military or College Recruiters (This information is shared with military recruiters early in the school year. Complete this form now to opt out of military recruitment. Must be renewed annually.)

     

    9th-Graders or students with significant changes in their medical history: 
    General Medical Profile / Perfil general médico 

  • School computers will be issued to new students and 9th-graders on Wednesday, September 4.

    Students are responsible for taking care of their student technology. Please read our Technology Appropriate Use Guidelines.

    Prepare your student computer

    1. Plug in the laptop’s power adapter. Let it charge for 15 minutes. Power on the laptop.
    2. Log in to the 4J Student user account. The password is: student
    3. Connect the laptop to wi-fi and the Internet.
      • If you see a popup asking you to install command line developer tools, click the Install button.
    4. Let the laptop sit for at least 2 hours. The laptop will configure itself and download the apps you need for school.

    If you see an error message saying the clock needs to be set, finish step 4 then restart the laptop. You may need to restart the laptop several times to sync the clock.

    For assistance, fill out a help request.

    Check your student email and make sure your 4J accounts are working.

  • Check your student computer for an Operating System Upgrade

    Operating system upgrades help protect the computers and keep you connected to the tools you need for school. 

    Before you start: Follow the Student Computer Startup Instructions. If you haven’t been using your student computer over the summer, the computer battery may have drained, and you will need to charge it and turn it on to allow the clock to update before you can complete the operating system upgrade. You may have to restart the computer a few times to get the clock to update. 

    1. Plug in the laptop’s power adapter. Let it charge for 15 minutes. Power on the laptop.

    Complete the upgrade:  Quicksheet – Upgrade macOS 2023

    The upgrade may take several hours to complete. Do not attempt to complete this update using a cellular signal or hotspot. Make sure your computer is in a safe place where it can remain plugged in and will not be disturbed during the upgrade.

  • Pick up a free LTD bus pass (optional).

    LTD Transit Pass:

    Students can get a free LTD student transit pass from the front office at any time. 

    Passes are valid from September 1 of the current school year to September 30 of the following year and can be renewed by the school each year for ongoing free service.

    Los estudiantes pueden obtener un pase de transporte para estudiantes de LTD gratis en la oficina principal.

    Los pases son válidos desde el 1 de septiembre del año escolar actual hasta el 30 de septiembre del año siguiente y la escuela puede renovarlos cada año para continuar con el servicio gratuito.

  • Step 1: Complete a Parking Contract

    2024 – 2025 Churchill Parking Contract

    The student must be signed in to 4J Google to access this form. A parent’s digital signature is required for students under 18. One parking permit per vehicle.

     

    Step 2: Pay for your Parking Permit (non-refundable) — $50

    Additional permits for multiple vehicles in the same household: $5.00 each.

    Fee reduced Semester 2: $25.00

  • General School Support (Optional) — $60.00

    Suggested donation amount. This contribution is tax-deductible.
    This fund is used to help with classroom supply costs that exceed district funding and to provide supplies and scholarships to students. This fee is not required.

    Did you know that you can give back to Churchill whenever you shop for necessities like groceries and everyday household supplies? Learn more about Fred Meyer Community Rewards. You can make a difference to our kids.

  • All Eugene 4J students now eat FREE through CEP (Community Eligibility Provision). All students are offered free breakfast and lunch during the 2024–25 school year, regardless of family income. High schoolers also can get a free after-school meal!

  • Use this form to request a locker (must be signed in to a 4J Google account).

  • Find your overdue library books.

    Check your account for overdue books on the CHS Library page. Overdue library books can be returned to the front office anytime. Overdue charges will be waived for any books returned before the first day of classes.

  • Check your class schedule.

    Student class schedules will be ready to view in ParentVUE/StudentVUE on Tuesday, September 3.

    Use the online Schedule Correction Request Form to request a correction to your class schedule. The form will be posted on the Scheduling page after student schedules are published. DO NOT EMAIL YOUR COUNSELOR FOR A SCHEDULE CORRECTION.
