Churchill Families,
Greetings Lancers Family and Happy New Year,

It was a short week at Churchill, but it felt busy as everyone returned from break and we got back into the swing of things. Girls basketball is headed down to Ashland tonight and the boys will host Ashland for the first game of the week of the new year. Be sure to check out the highlights tonight on Roundball Wrap on KEZI. The wrestling team dominated on Wednesday night under Lancer Dome against Willamette and the swim team has a meet today in Cottage Grove. Go Lancers!

The Lancer Pageant is kicking off its first fundraiser of the year at Papa’s Pizza Parlor on West 11th next Tuesday, January 14th! So skip the cooking that night and help raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network, which helps support our local pediatric and NICU units in Eugene and Springfield with much-needed resources and funds.

Please encourage your students to be extra vigilant about their attendance and grades this month as we near the end of the first semester.

Go, Lancers!

Sincerely,
Justin Huntley, Interim Principal

It’s School Choice Time
See what our schools offer!
In Eugene School District 4J, every school offers an excellent education for our students. Students may enroll in their neighborhood school at any time, or may request to enroll in a different 4J school provided there is space available. School choice requests will be accepted in an order determined by lottery.

High Schools:
Churchill, North, Sheldon, South, Churchill IHS, Sheldon IHS, South IHS

To be included in the lottery, 4J residents must submit a request form by January 31 at midnight. Non-district residents must submit a request form between March 1 and 31. All students who want to obtain a transfer must submit a request form, including new incoming siblings and students who have moved out of the district and want to remain enrolled next year. Not all schools are open to non-district resident requests.

Virtual and in-person school visits are scheduled in the month of January. If you have any friends or family members who are considering school choice, please invite them to learn more about their school choice options!

Counselor Corner
Welcome back from Winter Break! We’re gearing up for the start of Semester 2 on February 3. Keep working hard as we end Semester 1 – we’re almost there.

This week in Advisory students checked their Semester 2 schedules. Things to consider:

1) Are you in the correct courses?
2) Do you have what you need for graduation?
3) If you’re involved in athletics, are you meeting eligibility requirements?
4) Are you taking the courses you need to meet your goals for life after high school?

Seniors – if you are attending further schooling after high school, it’s important to double-check that you are meeting admissions requirements.

Schedule correction forms should be posted in the middle of next week on the CHS website. Once the correction form is posted, all students should submit their Semester 2 corrections using the form.

If you have any questions make sure to see your School Counselor. Our CHS School Counselors are:
