Attendance Policy Update
Churchill Families,

As we develop systems to address areas of academic concern, especially cell phones and attendance, we are constantly evaluating what is working, what is equitable, and what needs adjustment. After discussing what best serves students and honors instructional time, we have made the shift to making ISS for chronic tardiness a half day on Wednesdays, with possible before and after lunch options, versus a full day. The rest of the policy stays the same.

We will always make efforts to reach out to families, discuss support, and utilize ISS as an option for the most extreme situations, where students would benefit from a concentrated focus on school work to catch up with what they have missed.

We appreciate your understanding and support in addressing academic needs.

HOOTS at Churchill
Hi Churchill,

We are excited to share a mental health resource that will support Churchill High School this year! The HOOTS program, a sister program to CAHOOTS, will be at Churchill each week for a free and confidential crisis clinic available to all students. The clinic contains a crisis worker and an EMT, who are able to provide short term counseling, crisis intervention, basic first aid and community referrals. They are in schools to provide extra support to students who are experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, difficulty meeting their basic needs, issues at school, at home, with friends or with family...and so much more! The clinic can connect students to services in the community, long term counseling and even get them signed up for OHP on site.

Anyone can access the clinic and we recommend students get connected through the counseling office at school. We will be at Churchill every Thursday beginning the week of October 7th.

HOOTS is a supportive and non-judgmental space, and we are up for talking about and working through pretty much anything! scan the QR code to get more mental health resources!

HOOTS en Churchill
Hola Churchill,

Become a Churchill Community Responder
A Churchill Community Responder is a volunteer that responds to “alerts” sent by the 15th Night Coordinator for needs specific to CHS students that have not been met by internal school resources. Types of alerts would be for items such as clothing, shoes, small household items, food or bedding, small gift cards, etc.

A Churchill Community Responder would receive a text message indicating a need. If the Responder can provide the need, they respond to the text message and work with the CHS Coordinator to secure and deliver the item. If you are unable to help with that alert you simply ignore the alert.
