From the Principal...

Churchill Families,

We are off to a fantastic start to the school year! It has been an exciting first week, and it's been wonderful to walk through classrooms and see students already engaged and eager to learn. The positive energy in our hallways is a true testament to the strength of our school community.

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve school operations, we have implemented a new eHallPass system. We’re happy to report that our students have adapted to it quickly and are using it effectively. This new system is helping us better manage movement during class time and ensure a more focused learning environment.

Looking ahead, we want to inform you about updates to our cellphone policy. In alignment with the Governor’s recent executive order, a new policy will take effect on January 1st. Until then, we continue to enforce our current rule of no phones in the classroom. Students receive a verbal warning on the first offense, the phone is held until the end of class on the second, and on the third offense, the phone will be held in the office until the end of the school day.

We ask for your support in reinforcing the importance of time away from phones during instructional hours. Your partnership helps our staff maintain a productive and respectful learning environment for all students.

Finally, we are thrilled to kick off Homecoming Week! Students and staff are showing their school spirit through themed dress-up days, and we are all looking forward to the big game on Friday. We hope to see many of you there, cheering on our team and celebrating as a school community.

Thank you for your continued support. Let’s make this a great year together!

Go, Lancers!

Silhouettes of several birds fly in the sky. In the foreground, silhouetted palm trees are visible, with some fronds reaching into the circle from the edges. The phrase "California Dreamin'" is prominently displayed in the center. The word "California" is in a large, curved, retro script font, with a dark blue fill and a yellow outline. The word "Dreamin'" is in a smaller, handwritten-style font directly beneath "California," with a matching yellow fill and a slight shadow.

Schedule Corrections

As our counselors work on final adjustments, please be aware that schedules may continue to change through the second week of school. Be sure to check your schedule regularly for any changes.

If your schedule needs to be corrected, please check that your request falls under one of the following reasons:
  • You don't have the classes you need to graduate.
  • You have an open period and need a full schedule.
  • You have a duplicate or a missing class.

If your request meets these criteria, you can submit a request using the form below.
Students must be logged into their 4J Google account to access the form.

Please submit the form only once. Counselors will do their best to make the appropriate changes, but all corrections are limited by the master schedule. We will respond to your requests via your 4J school email.

While your request is being processed, please continue to attend the classes you currently have in your schedule. It is your responsibility to check StudentVUE and your 4J email for updates. This form will close on Sunday, September 14.

Say Cheese! School Picture Days are September 10 and 11

School picture days are scheduled for Wednesday, September 10 (A-Day) and Thursday, September 11 (B-Day).

Students will take their pictures during their Language Arts class. On their designated picture day, students should first report to their Language Arts classroom for attendance. Their teacher will then escort them to the photo station.

Wednesday, September 10 is an A-Day. If your student's Language Arts class is scheduled on an A-Day (periods 1-4), they will have their photo taken on this day.

Thursday, September 11 is a B-Day. If your student's Language Arts class is scheduled on a B-Day (periods 5-8), they will have their photo taken on this day.

We can't wait to see those smiling faces!

From the College and Career Center

I wanted to give you a heads up that I will be on leave until Monday, Sept. 22nd. I'm sorry that I will miss the beginning of school, but I do want you to know I've put some things in place in the College & Career area so you and your students can access some of the area's self-service features.

Here are the links to C&CRvid.1 and C&CRvid.2. That will show you how to use the self-service features in my absence.

UPDATED WEBSITE!
This website is the merger of the CHS College Readiness website and the CHS School-to-Career website. I'm hoping it is more streamlined and simpler to use. It's great on the computer and OK on a cell phone.

Final Note: I emailed all seniors and their families with similar information. There is a very small minority of seniors who may be doing early action/early decision in mid-October. I will be back at Churchill before any of those deadlines roll around. If they're really at their wits' end, they can contact their counselor.

I am looking forward to returning and working with you on Xello and supporting you in the classroom - especially with the new Higher Ed & Career Path course.

See you in (late) September

The Graduation Party is community-sponsored. Liability is the responsibility of the organizers.

Class of 2026 Families!

Every year, parents work together to provide the Senior Grad Night Party, where we offer our graduates a fun, safe, and sober place to gather and celebrate their success with peers, one final time. The party will be held the night of graduation, Monday, June 8th, from 11 pm to 3 am, at the University of Oregon Recreation Center. This year's party promises to be full of entertainment, food, and plenty of activities to keep the graduates celebrating all night long!

The Senior Night Grad Party is only made possible through the hard work and dedication from our CHS families and community. The event is fully funded through fundraising and organized and managed by a parent committee, only.

WE NEED YOU! To join our party committee or get the latest information on how you can help, scan the QR code or CLICK HERE.

Below the title, a paragraph introduces e-bikes as a way to build independence, enhance physical and mental health, and provide a low-emission way to travel. The flyer is divided into two main sections. The first section, "Ride Safely and Responsibly," is a bulleted list of safety tips, including using an e-bike only with a good understanding of the rules of the road, managing speed, riding defensively, wearing a helmet, being visible with lights and reflective clothing, checking brakes and tire pressure, and using a high-quality lock. It also advises registering the e-bike. The second section, "Follow the Law," is a bulleted list outlining legal requirements for e-bikes in Eugene. This includes a minimum age of 16 to ride an e-bike, a legal speed limit of 20 mph for throttles and 28 mph for pedal assist, and a rule that e-bikes are not allowed on sidewalks.
