CHS Family Bulletin January 13, 2023

Posted Date: 04/26/2024

Hello, Churchill families and students;

Happy Friday the 13th!  I hope your day and week have gone well.  The Churchill hallways and classrooms are full of exciting thing as we finish our 4th week of second trimeser.  The end of Januray will soon be here, which means that mid-terms will be happening and trimester 3 is just around the corner.  Please conttinue to reach out to teachers and talk with your student(s) about their classes and assignments.

Monday, schools will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  As a school we will hold our MLK Assembly next Friday, Januray 20th, during 2nd period.   Our Black Student Union (BSU) has planned a wonderful assembly based around one of Martin Luther King, Jrs. many quotes, “We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.”  The assembly will have participation from many of our student affinity groups, our choir, and a keynote speaker.  It will be a great time for our student body.

Athletcs are in full swing and are doing an amazing job!  Our student-athletes are setting new records, winning games and meets, and having fun while working hard.  Come out and support out teams when you can!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and as always, if there is anything we can do to help or if you have questions, please reach out and let us know.

Go, Lancers!

Missy Cole, Principal
Churchill High School

School and Student Information

Taking Care of School Laptops

The 4J Technology Department is reporting a significant amount of preventable damage to student laptops. We’d like to remind everyone of the importance of taking good care of these devices. The money that we save on repairing or replacing student technology can be used to better serve our students and school communities.

The safest place to use and store the laptop is on a flat, clear, stable surface like a table or desk. Keep your laptop away from pets, young children, and areas where there is a lot of activity or foot traffic.

Be very careful with your backpack when you are using it to transport your laptop. Avoid hard landings when you are setting your backpack down. NEVER leave your backpack unattended. Keep it with you or store it in a locker to keep it safe.

Keep all fluids and food (including gum, toothpaste, etc.) at least 6 feet away from the laptop at all times.

If liquid is spilled on the laptop, do not try to fix it yourself. The best thing to do is immediately contact the school to set up an exchange.

MLK Assembly next Friday, January 20th

Next Friday, we will be holding our annual MLK assembly.  Our amazing BSU and advisor have planned a great assmbly for us!  The class schedule will be on a “Double-Assembly Bell Schedule, meaning duirng the assembly time, 2nd period, half of the school will attend the MLK assembly in the auditorium, while the other half of the school will be in 2nd period.  Once the first group of classes is done with the assembly, they will return to their 2nd period of class, while the other half of the school attends the assembly.

This year’s theme for the assembly is:

“We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.
