Churchill Families,
It was another great week at Churchill. Winter sports kicked off practices on Monday. Tuesday night the Band had a preview concert and those cool cats can sure riff. We honored our science students of the month on Thursday morning and then recognized our Fall sport and performance participants during a quick assembly on Thursday. Thursday night the Choir filled the auditorium with beautiful sounds. Friday we had an assembly put on by our NASU students to celebrate Native American Heritage Month. The 4J NATIVES Program did a presentation about our Oregon Tribes and the NASU students demonstrated and introduced students to a couple of their traditional dances. We are ending the week with a Natives Family Night as well as a National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. So many events and so many ways for students to get involved. I am just in awe of all of the talented and hardworking students here at CHS!
We would love to see you all at Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday and Tuesday. It is not too late to sign up. If you are having difficulties please call the front office for help.

To support student success, CHS created some stringent procedures regarding attendance at the beginning of the year. As we move into the second half of the term and reflect on the procedures, we see areas for improvement. We are now set to move into the next phase with more restorative practices and positive recognition of students who are meeting the expectations. As we move into this new phase we have set a goal of all students attending their classes more than 90% of the time and all students attending class on time. Please partner with us in our efforts by calling when your students is out and helping reinforce with your student the importance of being on time.  Attendance matters!

Go, Lancers!

Preparation
To help determine whether a conference is necessary, please check your student’s grades and attendance records in ParentVUE or Canvas:

We encourage parents to bring their students with them to conferences. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your student’s academic progress, address any challenges, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. We encourage families of students who may need additional support in one or more classes to participate.

If you need further assistance outside of the conference dates, our teachers are available during office hours throughout the school year and would be happy to meet with you.

Your involvement is essential to supporting your child’s academic success, and we value your partnership in this journey. We look forward to meeting with you and working together to ensure the best outcomes for our students.
